Eurosiège: sit down without risk of falling asleep!
Roland Perréard is running the company « Eurosiège » which is based in Champanges. The company which began its activities in 1971 had seventy-six workers all told and exclusively produced desk chairs. However, the competition with other companies grew much tougher. As a result of that, « Eurosiège » had been forced to bring the number of its workers down to thirty. In 1988, the enterprise took a new turn by deciding to specialise in the production of casino’s seats. « It is a huge sector full of promises » Roland Perréard explains « today 70% of our demands are from casinos; 98% of these casinos are based in France. Also half of all the casinos based in Belgium and Switzerland are equipped by Eurosiège. The remaining 30% of our demands are from clients who run bars and clubs etc.
Our seats are designed and produced locally from A to Z by our fourteen worker-team
Here is where the very initial work is produced. Seats are always mounted to take the form of tubes. Besides, there is a painting shop where the essential work of dressing seats is carried out. We use leather and other textiles to decorate these seats. Very recently Eurosiège has also resorted to embroidery in order to give a personal touch to its seats and all this, thanks to a new numerical control- functioning machine. Our motto is quality.
Although our capital of about one million euros remains level with that a small size enterprise, a good management is what has enabled us to make such investment as the purchase of a new machine destined to help with cleaning without necessarily having to resort to harmful products; and also the purchase of another machine to help with drying off paintings.
Always innovating
« Producing seats clearly means that I love doing it; and producing seats also means selling them » the C.E.O has explained very good- humouredly. He is having great fun each and every time he is about to invent a new design. Although retired now, Roland Perréard still has some prosperous plans for “Eurosiege” of which his daughter, Claire is the current chairman.
« Being a relatively tiny structure, I think we should try and do what others can not produce » some of our innovations then include: seats which are automatically adjustable; their height and depth are automatically regulated as soon as a client ceases to manipulate them and their mechanism is pretty simple.
During the world Gaming salon that took place last January in London, Eurosiège was happy to have made new contacts there, most of which were western European countries and South- American nations as well… Patricia Colliard. |
